TECHNOLOGIES FOR OPTIMAL HEALTH CARE OF PEOPLE IN CONDITIONS OF CHRONICITY AND FRAILTY IN THE RESIDENTIAL AND COMMUNITY SETTINGS

Description:

The aim of this research cluster is to develop and apply technology in real-life contexts of residential and community settings. Technology will enable monitoring and watching health, behavior and daily activities of people suffering from chronic or potentially degenerative conditions, but from the perspective of health care providers, nurses and physiotherapists. Some of those degenerative conditions are for instance impaired functional abilities related to aging, frailty, high risk of developing cognitive impairment, etc.
All that data use and their integration with analyses and any other innovations are relevant in decision making. These include tracking and monitoring, behavioral modelling and detection of stress, pain, fatigue, quality of walking, occurrence of mild cognitive impairment and sleep problems. Additionally, technological innovations such as “serious games” and other virtual reality options will be designed to promote health education, as well as to prevent and slow down cognitive impairment or prevent falls or walking disorders through virtual reality solutions.
