At Campus Iberus, we actively collaborate with universities in Colombia to promote the joint publication of scientific research, thus strengthening academic ties and promoting the exchange of knowledge internationally.
In addition, together with the University of the Andes, the international format of the annual Campus Iberus Thesis in 3 Minutes Competition has been launched.
INTERNATIONAL 3-MINUTE THESIS COMPETITION
In November 2023, the first T3M International Final was held in partnership with the Universidad de los Andes, which hosted the event at its Uniandes Caribe campus in Cartagena. Ten PhD students from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia, as well as from the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico participated in the final. Campus Iberus was represented by Antonio Beltrán from the University of Zaragoza and Rosa Fernández from the University of La Rioja.
The winners of the competition were: Paula Caicedo, from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, in first place; Cindy Arévalo, from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, in second place and Rosa Fernández, from the Universidad de La Rioja, in third place.
Paula Caicedo, PhD in Social and Human Sciences, presented her thesis entitled ‘Food for Peace’ and analysed food practices and participation in the reincorporation to civilian life in Charras, Guaviare, Colombia.
Cindy Arevalo, PhD in Biological Sciences, explained the evaluation of the metabolic profile and response to conventional chemotherapy and natural adjuvants in patients with acute leukaemia.
Rosa Fernández, from the PhD in Biomedical and Biotechnological Sciences, focused on the detection and characterisation of peptides with microbial activity in Staphylococcus isolates. It intends to apply them in the areas of agri-food and public health.
