PASTIBERUS
TECHNOLOGICAL, SCIENTIFIC AND SOCIAL CHALLENGES CRITICAL FOR ECOSYSTEM SERVICES OF PASTURES UNDER GLOBAL CHANGE
Description:
Pastures provide numerous goods and services ta the local rural society and adjacent urban and peri-urban areas, including biodiversity, fodder, food, quality water, soil fertility, quality landscape, tourism and sports, and climate regulation among others. Climate change and land use are threats ta the continuity of the supply of these ecosystem services, posing technological, scientific and socio-economic challenges.
PASTIBERUS aims ta study the pastures of the lberus region, the basis of the rural economy in many lberus areas, including the Pyrenees. Pastures are basic resources for livestock, mainly extensive, and are linked ta the production of meat and dairy products, often organic or with a designation of origin.
