FORCAM
EBRO'S BASIN FOREST PROTECTION AGAINST BIOTIC AND ABIOTIC THREATS FROM THE GLOBAL CHANGE
Description:
Global change will affect forest functioning and bioeconomy in the Ebro valley. FORCAM is a consortium of researchers and stakeholders that works to predict the response of our forests to climate change in order to develop mitigation management strategies. FORCAM aims at fostering collaborations amongst our institutions in terms of methods and knowledge in order to provide integrative solutions to our managers. UdL / JRU CTFC Agrotecnio will bring knowledge in forest pathology, soil microbiota, physiological responses to drought or fire, and forest regeneration. UNIZAR will bring knowledge in biogeography, modelling, population and community ecology of animals and plants. UPNA will bring expertise in nutrient cycling and IPE-CSIC in dendrochronology, forest decline and forest interaction with climate change, particularly responses to drought. The stakeholders will contribute by assisting with samplings and with transferring knowledge to the forest managers. Collaborations will be in terms of PhD and post-doctoral students, as well as in terms of short-term teaching visits amongst our universities. A mid-term goal of FORCAM is to facilitate co-supervision of students across our university as well as to promote research grants.
