“la Caixa” Foundation
2013 University Campuses and Economic Growth Programme
Campus Iberus was one of the Campuses of International Excellence to take part in the Pilot Programme University Campuses and Economic Growth Programme in the year 2012, a programme supported by the “la Caixa” Foundation.
After the work having been done within the framework of this Programme, the “la Caixa” Foundation and Campus Iberus have decided to continue their collaboration, in order to develop various actions in the Action Plan to Improve Innovation in the Agrifood and Nutrition Areas in Campus Iberus, with a view to contribute to sustainable and responsible economic growth in the Ebro Valley.
For this reason, the “la Caixa” Foundation and Campus Iberus have signed a new cooperation agreement, that will enable us to tackle the objectives of the 2013 University Campuses and Economic Growth Programme. Within this programme, Campus Iberus will carry out actions aimed at promoting economic growth and the improvement of training and employment in the Agrifood and Nutrition sector. To achieve this, Campus Iberus will develop strategic actions in the field of economic, social and environmental competitiveness and sustainability in Agrifood and Nutrition. These actions will take the form of innovative proposals, through the collaboration of research teams and the main private players in this sector, with the objective of developing revitalizing actions that have an impact on economic growth and employment generation.
The “la Caixa” Foundation has made a contribution of € 55,000 to Campus Iberus to develop these actions.
UNIVERSITY CAMPUSES AND ECONOMIC GROWTH PROGRAMME
Campus Iberus has taken part in the Pilot Project “University Campuses and Economic Growth” supported by the “la Caixa” Foundation through the cooperation agreement signed by both institutions on November 2012.
This Pilot Projects profits from the activities already carried out by public and private actors within the framework of the Campus of International Excellence programme developed by the Ministry of Education of the Spanish Government. It seeks to promote economic growth policies within the Agrifood and Nutrition sector, which is one of the specialization areas of Campus Iberus and aims to have an impact on a regional or cross-border area of influence in the middle and long-term.
The main goal of the Programme is to foster a dialogue between the main actors and players of the triangle of knowledge (education, research and innovation) that will help find regional and industry sector specific solutions to develop new productive resources, new international alliances and attract investment. This initiative also wants to give confidence to society that solutions to the current socioeconomic crisis can be found if universities, businesses, and public administrations work together within the principles and good practice of the knowledge society.
Within the framework of the cooperation agreement with the “la Caixa” Foundation, Campus Iberus has prepared its Action Plan to Improve Innovation in the Agrifood and Nutrition Areas in Campus Iberus.
The plan has been publicly presented in Pamplona on 25 June 2013 and it incorporates the contributions made during the public debate session celebrated on that day.
