In Campus Iberus the aspirations and projects in the field of higher education of the universities of Zaragoza, Public University of Navarra, Lleida andLa Rioja are shared. Consequently so is, in accordance with the threefold mission of universities, the aspiration to build a knowledge ecosystem that will act as a basis for the socioeconomic development of its territory.
As with any collaborative project, many people have been involved in its development, but the following have played a major role:
- The Rectors
- The Social Councils
- The Directorates-General responsible for higher education in the Autonomous Communities where the universities are located
The Strategic Plan 2011-2015 has been developed within the framework of the “2015 University Strategy” and the calls of the International Campus of Excellence Programme as an ambitious cooperation plan in the region of the Ebro Valley.
Some of the milestones in the history of Campus Iberus are:
25 MAY 2010: signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the public universities of Zaragoza, Navarra, Lleida and La Rioja for the constitution of the International Campus of Excellence of the Middle Ebro Valley.
21 OCT 2011: Resolution of the Secretary of State for Universities of the Spanish Ministry of Education, which awards the project Campus Iberus with the distinction: International Campus of Excellence, CEI-2010.
6 APR 2011: Preparatory meeting of the Cross-Border Campus “EBRoS WESTERN PYRENEES”, between Campus Iberus, Pôle de Recherche et d’Enseignement Supérieur (PRES) Université de Tolouse and Université de Pau et des Pays de L’Adour (UPPA).
6 JUN 2011: signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the universities of Zaragoza, Public University of Navarra, Lleida and La Rioja to set up the Consortium Campus Iberus.
21 MAY 2011: constitution of the Consortium Campus Iberus.
16-DIC-2015. Campus Iberus project gets the final grade as Campus of Excellence Internacional (CEI) in the final resolution of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
Campus Iberus’ identity is defined by the history of the four universities that constitute it:
