European Energy Research Alliance (EERA)
The European Energy Research Alliance (EERA) is a public entity formed by more than 160 universities and research centres that are aligned to Energy at a European level.
The Alliance, which constitutes one of the cornerstones of the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan), bases its work on 17 Joint research Programmes. In a Joint research Programme members of EERA work in a coordinate way with other European institutions through research projects and the establishment of joint priorities, aligned with the priorities for low carbon technologies defined in the SET-Plan.
Furthermore, EERA works together with European industrial platforms to align research and innovation priorities. This collaboration aims to foster a research in world-class innovation and technology European’s Energy system, while it helps to reduce the deployment time of these technologies in the market.
The Joint research Programmes are important contact points for collaboration beyond Europe. EERA has fostered the creation of national energy research alliances in many countries – such as United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain and Belgium – and it regularly represents the Scientific Community in collaboration with the European Commission in Asia, USA and Brazil. These national alliances contribute to coordinate research activities and to their alignment with the European agenda.
Since January 1st 2016, Campus Iberus is a member of EERA, actively participating in the Joint Programme Bioenergy and in the Joint Programme Smart Cities. This allows Campus Iberus to internationally boost its researcher dimension in one of the strategic areas of the Campus specialization, facilitating its universities involvement in European projects of R&D&I in cooperation with European and International institutions which are aligned to Energy.
